في عالم الأعمال المترابط، تأتي بعض المتغيرات التشغيلية المفاجئة لتختبر متانة النماذج التجارية، وتكشف مدى جاهزية العقود للتعامل مع الأزمات. فنشهد أحياناً اضطرابات مفاجئة في سلاسل الإمداد، أو في حركة النقل الجوي، أو في الخدمات اللوجستية نتيجة إغلاق بعض المنافذ أو صدور قرارات تنظيمية طارئة.مثل هذه المتغيرات لا تقف آثارها عند حدود قطاع واحد، بل تمتد لتطال قطاعات حيوية كالسياحة، والفندقة، وخدمات الحج والعمرة، وشركات النقل والخدمات اللوجستية. ومع تعذر تنفيذ بعض الالتزامات وفق الجداول الزمنية المعتادة.

Family businesses are an essential part of the economic fabric in the Kingdom and the world, contributing to economic growth and job creation. However, they face significant challenges in maintaining their success across generations. This is where the family charter comes in, representing a strategic tool that promotes sustainability and growth by regulating the relationship between the interests of the company and the interests of partners (family members) and defining the powers, responsibilities, values, and strategic directions of the company.

The legal department is often viewed as a financial cost center that protects a company from legal risks, but it is not a revenue generating component. However, if the legal department is redefined and strategically reoriented, it can become a revenue center that directly contributes to the financial performance of a company. In this article, I share my vision of how this transformation can be achieved and the steps that the legal department can take to become a pivotal component of a company’s sustainable growth.

Through my supervision of a number of legal departments and law firms, and from direct work with service and consulting environments, I have noticed that many of the challenges facing professional teams are not related to a lack of experience or knowledge in the professional field, but rather to a lack of awareness of the different personality types and their impact on team formation and integration, and on managing and achieving the professional opportunity with high ability.

Legal analysis is not just a mental skill, but a strategic tool that gives its owner the ability to understand texts, circulars, and judicial rulings in depth, and to deal with them effectively, whether you are a lawyer, researcher, or legal officer.

In a constantly evolving legal landscape, legal expertise alone is no longer enough to distinguish a lawyer. Competition is no longer limited to those who know the system, but extends to those who understand people, influence effectively, and handle situations intelligently. In this context, soft skills emerge as a crucial element in a lawyer's career, and can be the key to winning a client, resolving a dispute, or maintaining a distinguished professional reputation.

In the past, I used to link my new beginnings to major milestones in my life: the start of a new Islamic or Gregorian year, a new semester, or even an extended vacation. I saw those moments as golden opportunities to realign my path and make up for lost time, but over time I realized that waiting for them might delay change and weaken its impact.

One of the biggest drains on a person's energy and peace of mind is living in a constant cycle of comparison, observing what others possess and measuring their own success by a standard that isn't their own. These comparisons put you in a losing battle from the start because they fail to consider differences in circumstances, opportunities, abilities, and goals. The right kind of comparison is to look back at yourself yesterday and ask: Am I more knowledgeable today? More virtuous? More accomplished?

In a highly competitive legal market, law firms face challenges that extend far beyond litigation, drafting, and consultation. Today, a law firm is no longer simply a service provider; it is a business model that is affected by economic shifts, regulatory changes, market fluctuations, and sudden disruptions.

Arbitration is a legal mechanism used by individuals and companies to resolve disputes outside of formal court proceedings, thanks to its speed, flexibility, and confidentiality. These advantages have made it a preferred option in commercial and investment transactions. Consequently, an arbitration award acquires the force of res judicata and is considered final and enforceable. However, this authority is not absolute; it is subject to limited and exclusive judicial review through an "annulment of the arbitration award," which aims to invalidate the award if it contains serious formal or procedural defects, without re-examining the merits of the dispute.

Every organization or company, whether for-profit or non-profit, aspires to success, impact, and sustainability. To achieve these goals, it requires a leader with a clear vision and the ability to guide the organization towards achieving its goals. Through my experience working with government and private entities, I have learned that successful leadership depends on a set of pivotal roles that enable the leader to achieve effective change.
